Practicing
in Broward County since 1990, Dr. Harold Roberts has evolved a practice
almost exclusively confined to the surgical treatment of heart
valves. In fact, over 95% of his open heart cases involve a valve. He
has exceptional experience and training in the reconstruction, rather
than the repair of the mitral valve. His training in mitral repair
began in Paris with
Dr. Carpentier. He has since attended numerous valve meetings and
courses in America and Europe in his pursuit of perfecting his craft.
According to HCFA, Dr. Roberts has done more mitral repairs than any
surgeon in Florida for the past several years.
Dr. Roberts has a growing experience in the use of the DaVinci robot to
perform complex valve procedures through chest incisions 3/4 of an inch
in length. These procedures, in selected patients, are performed at
Westside Medical Center and Holy Cross Hospital.
The surgical cure of atrial fibrillation is another procedure that Dr.
Roberts has regularly performed since 2000. Many of these are done
robotically through similarly small incisions.
Over the past few years, as his reputation has grown, Dr. Roberts has
lectured at many major cardiac surgical meetings on his valve repair
techniques. He participates in numerous clinical studies involving
cutting edge techniques.
